Academics
Academics are at the heart of the FLY program, and all FLY students will enroll full-time in a rigorous course of study at our partner institutions.
FLY students will choose from a curated selection of pre-evaluated courses that satisfy the degree requirements of a wide variety of SBU majors. We encourage students to review the course selection and recommended majors for their preferred FLY location to ensure the best academic experience and optimize degree progress.
The FLY program requires students to enroll in a minimum of 12 credits each semester. All courses completed with a grade of C or higher during the FLY program will be apply towards the students SBU degree requirements and processed as transfer credits. While the course grade will appear on the students transcript, FLY grades will not be included in the students final GPA.
During the last semester of their FLY program, students will receive an introduction
to Stony Brook's registration process and individualized advising from SBUs academic
advising units. Students are welcome to contact academic advisors at any time during
the FLY program with questions about their course of study and degree progress. The
FLY team and FLY on-site program directors will guide students to the appropriate
SBU resources and contacts for their specific needs.
