Spring 2025

Event attendance form

Events are added on a rolling basis.  Please note the University Scholars Event policy:

  • Scholars are required to attend one event a semester, unless they are: first year first time students who are required to attend two events a semester for their first year or new current admit SBU students required to attend two events in their first semester.
  • Only events that are designated by a "*" can be used to satisfy the event requirement.
  • To receive event credit, students must arrive on-time and remain for the entirety of the event as participation is required.
  • Once you attend an event, you should use this form to record your attendance within 48 hours to earn credit.
 
 

University Honors Programs  Winterfest *

Monday, February 3

Kick off the start of the Spring 2025 semester with us! Join your fellow scholars for Winterfest—a warm and welcoming celebration to reconnect with old friends and make new ones! Enjoy hot cocoa, prizes, honors merch giveaways, winter-themed crafts, and fun activities to start the semester on a high note! In order to earn Scholars credit, you must participate in the Cards for Kindness activity at the event.

Want to give back to your community and make a difference? The Center for Service Learning and Community Service (CSLCS) helps students participate in both on and off campus community service and partners with hundreds of nonprofit organizations on Long Island, New York City, and beyond to address a wide variety of causes. In this workshop meet the Center for Service Learning and Community Service (CSLCS), discover how to start exploring service opportunities, and learn about  upcoming service programs and events.

Pre-Health Pathways: Tracking Impact through Volunteering & Shadowing*

In addition, you will leave this session knowing how to use GivePulse, a platform that allows you to track these hours and download your complete service record!

Golden Threads invites scholars to explore the beauty of imperfection through the Japanese art of Kintsugi. Participants will reflect on their inner critic, challenge perfectionism, and embrace growth by repairing "broken" pottery with golden accents. Together, we'll discover how flaws can become a source of strength and beauty.

Peace Corps Prep Information Session*

The Peace Corps is an agency of the United States government that brings together skilled, committed volunteers to serve in host communities in over 60 countries. Volunteers live and work side by side with community members to assist with local projects, build relationships, and exchange cultures and knowledge.

The Peace Corps Prep Program at Stony Brook University is an undergraduate certificate program that helps students build the competencies needed to be successful Peace Corps Volunteers and strengthens their candidacy on Peace Corps applications. During this information session, we will review the Prep Program requirements and application process.
