Join the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs for our New Postdoc Welcome. The Welcome offers an introduction to Stony Brook to help recently arrived postdocs
maximize their postdoctoral experience. All postdocs who have joined us since January
are particularly encouraged to attend.

2.Register Now for Fall Communicating Science Courses
Through a special arrangement with the Alda Center for Communicating Science, postdocs
may sign up through the Postdoc Office to take the Alda Center's nationally-renowned
communicating science classes for FREE. Space is limited, with two postdoc spots in
each section of most courses. Postdocs may only take one course per semester.

1.Fulbright Offers Postdoc Fellowships for Research Abroad, Deadline: Aug 1
Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholar Awards are grants of varying length to support research
abroad for recent PhDs in all disciplines.
Grants are available in many countries, for example, The University of Newcastle
in Australia enables postdoctoral candidates from the U.S to undertake research at
UON, New South Wales, Australia and focus on building critical bilateral relationships
with Australia.
2.Traveling to a Conference This Summer? Apply for an OPA Travel Award
The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs Travel Award can reimburse travel costs associated
with national or international scientific or professional conferences or meetings,
up to a maximum of $1,500. Funds are awarded based on the significance of the conference
to the postdoc’s career and require that the postdoc present results at the event.
Funds must be used for travel expenses that cannot be supported by departmental resources,
the postdoctoral supervisor's budget, or other sources of support.
Deadline:You may apply at any time, but it must be at least ONE FULL MONTH before travel takes place.
Eligibility:All postdocs may apply. If your title is different from Postdoctoral Associate, Senior
Postdoctoral Associate or Postdoc Fellow, your supervisor must certify that you are
a postdoc.
3.Long Island Biosciences Hub Grants to Commercialize Innovations, Deadline: June 1
The Center for Biotechnology, in collaboration with Stony Brook University, Cold Spring
Harbor Laboratory, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and Feinstein Institute for Medical
Research, have formed the Long Island Biosciences Hub (LIBH). A principal goal of
the LIBH is to foster the development of therapeutics, diagnostics, medical devices
and research tools emerging from the four partner institutions that address diseases

Request for Proposals: Two specific funding programs have been designed to help faculty, physicians, surgeons, medical fellows, and postdocs develop their academic innovations toward commercial goals. The RFP and forms for
