LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. Upon completion of the degree, students should be able to meet a range of works
and writing needs by demonstrating the ability to describe with details and good control
of aspects, to write straightforward commentaries on topics of general interest or
documents (printed aural, visual). The graduate writing competence exhibits a good
control of the target-language syntactic structures, a variety of cohesive devices
in written assignments and essays of significant scope and length; it recognizes the
subtleties of literary genres and the intricacy of cultural discourses.
2. Upon completion of the M.A. degree, students should be able to understand a wide
range of literary works and other writings in the arts and social theories to expand
on all aspects of linguistic comfort through rhetorical, aesthetic, ideological, and/or
journalistic discourses. A good critical thinking competence develops an appreciation
for the subtleties of literary genres and allows for a wealth of ideas likely to inspire
their own social and professional lives.
3. Upon completion of the M.A. degree, students should be able to comprehend the making
of a national culture from their language of study with meaningful historical events,
its intellectual heritage, institutional structures and modern society, through the
study of documents (printed, aural, visual) in a variety of mediums (film, video clips,
artworks) and contemporary forms of expression (popular culture, media, songs).
