Economics Ph.D.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1. Upon completion of the degree, students should be able to master the most important aspects of the core fields in the profession: (1) microeconomic theory; (2) macroeconomic theory and its applications; (3) econometrics and its applications.

2. Upon completion of the degree, students should be able to develop an original research idea and write a detailed proposal of how the project will go from the idea to a fully developed paper.

3. Upon completion of the degree, students should be able to present their work in progress to a sophisticated audience motivating the work well and presenting it in a seminar setting that lasts between 45 and 75 minutes.

4. Upon completion of the degree, students should be able to develop an original economic question and solve it with theoretical or empirical methods using state-of-the arts methodologies and concepts.

5. Upon completion of the degree, students should be able to fully develop a research idea into a well written economics research paper that could be submitted to a peer reviewed international journal for publication with a good chance of being considered suitable for publication.
