Tributes: Memorial and Honorary Gifts

Each year, the Stony Brook Foundation is the grateful recipient of gifts made in memory of loved ones, friends and co-workers.

In addition, gifts are often made to honor an individual, as well as an individual's special achievement, retirement or other special occasion. Like all gifts to the Foundation, memorial and honorary gifts are tax-deductible and may be discretionary or designated to support a particular purpose. Memorial and honorary gifts may also be made online.

The Foundation provides an acknowledgement letter and charitable gift receipt to the donor, as well as a letter to the honoree or the designated family member(s) of the deceased. We do not inform the honoree (or family of deceased) of the amount of the tributary gift.
