FAQ FOR PROSPECTIVE SUDENTS

NOTE: All of Psychology’s PhD offers of admission include a stipend and tuition scholarship.       To receive full consideration for additional fellowships, domestic applicants to the Cognitive Science and Integrative Neuroscience Programs should submit by 12/15.

  • Application Form

Applications are only accepted online through the Graduate School website: https://graduateadmissions.stonybrook.edu/apply/

After a quick registration, you can visit the site as often as you like, and also have the option to change your response and fill out the application over several sessions.

  • Application Fee

The fee is $100 for both domestic and international students, payable by credit card.

Applicants should refer to the University’s Graduate Bulletin (https://www.stonybrook.edu/sb/graduatebulletin/current/admissions/special/waiver.php) to obtain information about application fee waivers. Fees are rarely if ever waived for international applicants

  • Test Scores

We are waiving (and not considering/accepting) GRE scores for the upcoming admission cycle.

Applicants to graduate programs who are not native speakers of English, or who have not been educated in institutions that use English as the primary language of instruction, must confirm their proficiency before admission.  Information about minimal TOEFL and IELTS scores is available in the graduate bulletin (https://www.stonybrook.edu/sb/graduatebulletin/current/admissions/requirements/english.php)

Please use the institution code 2548 for the TOEFL tests. 

  •  Application Materials (CV, Transcripts, Letter of Recommendation,)

It is required that you submit a complete application electronically. Upload your CV, personal statement, unofficial transcript (in PDF format) and have your recommenders submit through the online application. If you are offered admission, official transcripts will be requested at that time and sent to the address listed below.
