Welcome!

We are excited to have you join us and look forward to an amazing summer together at Stony Brook University! Here's your quick resource with information on what to bring, where you'll stay, and what to expect as a Pre-College Summer participant. Getting Here

Stony Brook University is situated on the north shore of Long Island in southeastern New York. We are approximately 60 miles east of New York City.

On check-in day, point your GPS to Hendrix College, Stony Brook, NY 11794

Where You'll Stay

You'll be staying in an air-conditioned room in a suite-style building. Each suite has a private living room area with connecting bedrooms. Most bedrooms are designed for double-occupancy, so each suite houses between four to six residents. Two-to-three rooms share a bathroom in a communal area.

Suites are separated by gender: male, female, and Gender Inclusive Housing (GIH).

What You'll Eat

You'll be eating in East Side Dining, a dining hall managed by Stony Brook Dining Services.

East Side Dining, offers a variety of fresh and nutritious meal selections that include vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, halal, and kosher options.

SBU Dining will make every effort to accommodate any allergy needs.

What to Bring (and What Not to Bring)

We will provide meals, furnishings and linens – sheets, blankets, pillows and towel. You should bring your personal hygiene items, a backpack or bag, electronics, snacks, and a reusable water bottle. If you take medications, bring a self-locking medical bag. And also bring a physical copy of your health insurance card along with a credit or debit card (for copays in case of a medical need).

Do not bring extension cords, lighting, heaters or AC, matrress toppers, furniture, candles or incense, tobacco or vape projects, alcohol, drugs or pets.
