Education

We promote education

  • by working with Stony Brook’s Honors College to offer a section of a core course, HON 106 Modes of Being, entitled “War and Humanity”, and working with Stony Brook’s Center for Medical Humanities, Compassionate Care, and Bioethics Biomedical Ethics to offer a first-year Medical School elective course entitled “Growth after Trauma: The Refugee Experience”; by collaborating with Stony Brook’s School of Journalism to offer workshops in documentary film-making and in international reporting to refugees, and by sending Stony Brook students overseas to document refugee experiences through the School’s Journalism Without Walls
  • through the Boston-based global higher educational consultancy The Trebuchet: Breaking down Barriers. The Trebuchet is dedicated to creating innovative forums and transformative educational opportunities for ethical global engagement by undergraduate and graduate students. It will offer national and international internships placements concentrating on refugee relief and rehabilitation with such organizations as Physicians for Human Rights, RefugePoint, QuestScope, the Schwab Foundation, and ICRC.
