Palmina & Roberto Mignone Endowed Fellowship
In Italian and Italian American Studies
Purpose
- The Mignone Fellowship provides full tuition coverage and a $26,000 annual stipend as Teaching Assistant. It is renewable until completion of the Master’s degree, for a period of up to 3 years in total. Fellows may receive additional funding for travel related to research or conferences.
- The Mignone Fellow will teach a 100-level undergraduate Italian language class each semester and collaborate on the Center’s cultural and community-oriented activities.
- Fellows will also have the opportunity to partner with the Center’s Director and Administrator and engage with a dynamic network of faculty and students from multiple departments, such as Languages and Cultural Studies, Linguistics, History, Art History, Hispanic Languages, English, and Philosophy.
Applying
- The Palmina & Roberto Mignone Fellowship is open to U.S. citizens and International graduate students who have been accepted into the MA in Romance Languages (Italian) or the MAT in Italian. Applicants must demonstrate a high proficiency in the Italian language.

Congratulations to our 2024 Mignone Fellow!
Anne-Marie Lucchese
With the support of the Mignone Fellowship, Anne-Marie Lucchese finished her second master's degree in Romance Languages (Italian) at Stony Brook University. She researched the Italian immigrant experience in Kentucky from the 1870s to the early twentieth century. Ms. Lucchese is continuing her studies as a PhD student at Indiana University at Bloomington.
