Successful Transition to Academic Research and Trianing (START) Guide
The Successful Transition to Academic and Research Training (START) Guide is a comprehensive handbook containing information relevant to Stony Brook University and its surrounding community (i.e. housing, medical and mental health resources, transportation, campus amenities, culturally-aware amenities). We share it with incoming graduate students funded by a CIE fellowship, however, the information is relevant to all incoming and continuing PhD students, and we welcome you to utilize it.
The START Guide was developed, reviewed and edited by graduate student staff, IMSD trainees, and non-IMSD graduate students, and is updated annually. It was also developed with feedback and input from the IMSD Steering Committee, for which we are most grateful.
