The following draft of our Vision, Mission, Core Values, Priorities, and Key Objective
for CEAS were drawn from faculty and staff feedback gathered from two CEAS Leadership
Retreats, our 2024 SWOT survey, several focus groups held in May/June 2024 and in
Fall 2024. Comments on this outline were collected from participants of the Spring
2025 Leadership Retreat and incorporated to form the current version. Initiatives
are forthcoming following the CEAS Leadership Retreat on February 13, 2025.
Vision
To be a first-choice college of engineering and applied sciences with educators who
inspire excellence and elevate our students, innovators who advance the human condition
through impactful research, and visionaries trusted to serve our world.

To serve and empower society through education in engineering and applied sciences,
advances in technology, and creation of transformative knowledge.
Core Values
Community: We support every member of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and acknowledge
their distinct needs and unique contributions to our Stony Brook community and beyond.
We strive to be socially responsible and act ethically to create a collegial atmosphere
of support, encouragement, and respect.
Excellence: We maintain the highest standards, acting with integrity in all our academic pursuits
and research endeavors to build upon our legacy of nurturing talented minds in the
