Heather J. Lynch, PhD, a Professor in the Department of Ecology and Evolution in the College of Arts and Sciences, and the first Endowed Chair for Ecology and Evolution at Stony Brook University’s Institute for Advanced Computational Science (IACS), has been named by The Pew Charitable Trusts as a recipient of the 2022 Pew fellowship in marine conservation. |

Chi-Kuo Hu, assistant professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences, is a recipient of a 2021 New Innovator Award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for a project that studies how organisms live in dormancy and its effect on quality of life. The award includes a five-year, $1.5 million grant. Read more |

Dr. David Thanassi, of Stony Brook University, has used molecular biology and cryoelectron microscopy to successfully unravel the structure of bacterial appendages called P pili. These pili are deployed by uropathogenic strains of Escherichia coli bacteria that cause kidney infections. The structure of P pili had been elusive to scientists for many years. Read More |
