Selling Back Your Books at the University Bookstore Helps an Important Cause

Stony Brook, NY, April 27, 2011 – This spring, when you sell back your textbooks, you can make a difference in the life of someone who is sick. The University Bookstore, through Barnes & Noble, has partnered with Musicians on Call (MOC), to bring live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities. In addition to paying you (up to 50%) for your textbooks, the University Bookstore will donate a portion of the total buyback dollars to Musicians on Call.

Musicians on Call have helped to bring both live and recorded music to sick individuals for over 10 years. During this time, MOC volunteer artists have performed and provided free CD’s for over 250,000 individuals across the country. Musicians on Call utilize the healing power of music in order to ease the suffering of sick and dying hospital patients. MOC volunteer artists include local volunteers as well as famous musicians such as Chris Daughtry and Mumford & Sons.

By selling back your textbooks to the University Bookstore from May 16-23, not only will you receive up to 50% of the new textbook price back for every book, but you will also be helping to fund an organization dedicated to helping the sick. Selling back your used textbooks also helps to increase the amount of used books available for future students. You can also sell back your textbooks at the Kelly Coffee & Tea House on May 18, 19 and 20 from 5:00pm-10:00pm and receive a free 12 oz. coffee or cocoa courtesy of FSA – the Stony Brook Faculty Student Association.

The Guaranteed Buyback program is also in effect! On guaranteed buyback books, the University Bookstore guarantees to buyback your textbook for 50% of the new book selling price. Look for books marked with the guaranteed buyback sticker to see which books are eligible.
