Kaya Turan is a PhD candidate in Art History & Criticism at Stony Brook University. His research, which has been published in Screen, Communication+1, and Studies in World Cinema, focuses on contemporary experimental cinema in relation to digital and atmospheric media theory. His dissertation is a study of the history, philosophy, and aesthetics of composite images, examining the ways in which these images figure and negotiate the relationship between sub-perceptual infrastructure and the perception of film form.
