Marianna earned her Bachelor’s in Business Administration from St. Joseph’s College and her Master’s in School Counseling from Long Island University. Marianna joined the Stony Brook University Admissions Office in 2006, and previously worked for various colleges and schools both here and in Florida.

In her current role, as the Assistant Director of Enrollment Operations, she provides professional support for the Undergraduate Admission Department by having the principle responsibility of implementing and managing the paperless process of admissions. In addition, Marianna continues to advise prospective students.

Kelly has been with the Office of Admissions for 26 years, joining the staff after earning her BA in Sociology at SBU. Specializing in our Education Outreach Program’s recruitment and admissions, Kelly is fully committed to providing college access to economically disadvantaged students who have the potential to succeed.

She notes, “The dedicated staff in our EOP Office assures me that our incoming students will be given the support necessary to be successful at Stony Brook. It is so rewarding to attend a graduating ceremony for these students and see how successful academically and socially they have been here."

With a strong passion for what Higher Education has to offer, Emilio is thrilled to be a part of Stony Brook's Undergraduate Admissions team. Born and raised in New York City with experience traveling very early on, Emilio has a love for encountering cultures and identities of all different backgrounds. In addition to Stony Brook's well-known academic programs, it was the diversity of the campus that prompted Emilio to pursue his Masters in Higher Education Administration here at Stony Brook University.

Emilio encourages prospective students to think thoroughly about what a college education means to them and to match their needs to what feels like the right institution. Besides traveling, Emilio enjoys writing, bike riding, some occasional Netflix, and most importantly eating mangos.

With over 40 years of working with students to navigate the college search and admissions process, Ralph enjoys meeting students in his territory of Northern New Jersey, to impress upon them the importance of their making the right decision for continuing their education. His goal is to empower students to take charge or the process with the support of their family, school/college counselors and college admissions representatives.

Ralph loves telling the Stony Brook “story” to students and their family members he encounters, so they can understand, how a Stony Brook experience can be the avenue to unlimited opportunities in a students future. In his downtime from recruiting, Ralph travels the world to broaden his understanding of people and cultures around our planet Earth.”

L’Oréal Ellington earned her Masters of Social Work from Fordham University. After graduating, she worked for a nonprofit organization based in Forest Hills Queens, NY servicing at risk youth with their higher education goals.

L’Oréal enjoys assisting students in furthering their educational dreams through the college process. She desires to help students understand the importance of education not only for themselves but for their families and community. L’Oréal believes that education is something that no one can take away from you.

Jonathon grew up in Stony Brook and earned his bachelor’s degree from Marist College. He started his career in higher education recruiting for graduate admissions and transitioned to undergraduate admissions when he came to Stony Brook.

Jonathon enjoys playing basketball and volleyball with friends, reading Harry Potter, and listening to music.

As a longtime Stony Brook resident, Jonathon encourages students to get off campus and to explore the surrounding area. With local beaches, hiking spots, and nearby villages full of shops and restaurants there is plenty to see and do.

Jing Li has joined International Admissions recently. As a Stony Brook alumni, she holds a B.A. in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, and she is currently pursuing her master degree in Accounting Finance.

With her experience at Stony Brook, Jing is looking forward to helping international students explore Stony Brook and beyond.

Having grown up locally, Katie feels a strong connection to Stony Brook. She left for 4 year period while she attended The University of New Hampshire and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree. She returned "home" after graduating college in 2002 and has been working in the Undergraduate Admissions Office at Stony Brook ever since. She also received her Master’s Degree from Stony Brook in 2007.

She encourages students to visit campus. "A visit can make all the difference; it allows a student to say whether or not they could call Stony Brook home for the next 4 years!"

Stacey’s passion for helping students find their college home coupled with her love to travel has allowed her to enjoy 15 years working in admissions and enrollment management.

Stacey has a BA from Muhlenberg College and her M.S. Ed in Higher Education Administration from Old Dominion University.

Stacey encourages all her students to enjoy the college search and application process. “College is the best 4 years of your life so don’t think of the application as a chore, but the start to the great times ahead!”

Lauren attended C.W. Post, earning both her Bachelor’s in Electronic Media and Master’s in School Counseling. As the National Admissions Counselor at Stony Brook, Lauren travels across the country talking to high school students about Stony Brook. “I love meeting people from different regions of U.S.,” she says.

Lauren constantly finds herself impressed with the variety of academic and social opportunities at Stony Brook University. She believes new students will also enjoy the many opportunities Long Island has to offer. Originally from Merrick, a nearby town on Long Island, she’s still in love with how the Island has a little bit of everything, from famous beaches to easy access to New York City.

She encourages prospective students to visit Stony Brook and see if they can picture themselves as college students here. “It’s important for a student to choose a school they love in a location where they would enjoy living,” she says.

When she's not working or involved in Admissions Counseling Associations, Lauren can frequently be found in her kitchen. An avid recreational chef, she’s often inventing a new soup or whipping up a signature pasta dish.

Youssef is proud to be your International Admissions Counselor at Stony Brook University. He is very keen to providing a successful integration and best college experience to Stony Brook’s international students. Having personally experienced the international admissions at an early age in Africa, at the American School of Marrakesh in Morocco, he is excited to bring in his international perspective and experience with prospective students hailing from France, Africa, the Middle East and any part of the world. He speaks 4 languages including French, Arabic, Moroccan and of course English. He holds a B.A. degree in Linguistics, project Management and marketing Certificate from The British University of Casablanca, and is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Human Resources Management.

Youssef believes in the importance of diversity in colleges which is not only enhancing students’ social development but also promoting creative thinking, and preparing students for work in a global society. Soccer is his favorite sport which he practices on a weekly basis. His favorite soccer player is Cristiano Ronaldo.

Rachel attended Suffolk County Community College for her associates degree in Liberal Arts, SUNY Binghamton for her B.S. in Human Development, and completed her M.A. in Higher Education Administration here at Stony Brook University in December 2016.

Born and raised on the East End of Long Island, Rachel considers herself to be a rural girl at heart. She loves having beaches minutes away from her home, while also being able to explore local restaurants, businesses, and farms closeby.

When she's not working, Rachel enjoys experimenting in the kitchen, weightlifting, walking/hiking with her two rescue dogs, catching up on all of her favorite shows, and traveling to her favorite getaway spots.

Rachel encourages all prospective students to visit Stony Brook. "Immersing yourself in the campus culture and surrounding areas, even for a weekend or a day, is important to truly be able to reflect on how you feel about your potential new home-away-from-home," she says.

Lyle is a Long Island native, having graduated from Stony Brook with a major in Political Science before earning his MA in Political Science at CW Post. Lyle enjoys meeting and working with students from the local high schools. He also directs our Campus Tour Program and Visit-A-Class Program.

Lyle encourages prospective students to visit Stony Brook on one of the many campus tours offered throughout the year. "The campus visit is one of the most crucial factors in determining if the college or university is a good fit, so look to take advantage of any opportunity that provides an insight into your potential future school".

Dean Judith Berhannan earned her B.A. in English and Secondary Education at Adelphi University, before receiving her M.A. in Education and College Student Development from CW Post. She began her career at Stony Brook University as a counselor in Undergraduate Admissions in 1983. Prior to her appointment as Dean of Admissions, she served as Associate Dean, coordinating SBU’s multicultural recruitment efforts.

During her career at Stony Brook, she has served as advisor to the SAINTS, the Mentor Program, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Minorities in Medicine and the National Society of Black Engineers. She has been awarded the President’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service, the State University of New York’s Admissions Profession Award, and the 2008 EOP/AIM Distinguished Advocate Award.

Dean Berhannan truly enjoys the variety afforded by her position at Stony Brook. She finds that working with students at so many levels, from high school seniors to graduate students with multiple degrees, presents her with a range of invigorating teaching and learning opportunities. She also notes that coordinating the departments within the Office of Admissions provides a great deal of daily variety and exciting exchanges.

Ms. Berhannan encourages prospective students to be proactive and to be as early as possible when applying to Stony Brook, noting that applicants should “be ahead of time instead of on time.” She believes that students who choose to attend a large university center such as Stony Brook are being given unlimited opportunities to expand their horizons. "The incredible variety of offerings here, from courses to extracurricular activities, allow students to carve out whatever path they would like to pursue."

As Associate Dean of Admissions, Rob coordinates the University’s undergraduate student recruitment outreach. With a Master’s degree in Counseling, he works very closely with high school counselors and serves on numerous boards of counseling associations at the local and state levels. Rob has a special appreciation and respect for the important role counselors play in guiding students. He adds, “I am so fortunate to be in the position where I can share my experiences at Stony Brook with prospective students and their families.” As a Stony Brook graduate, he believes in motivating, engaging and inspiring future generations of Stony Brook alumni.

Also known as His Royal Highness, in his spare time beyond Stony Brook, Rob enjoys interior design, shopping and spending quality time with Bailey, his adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. As a typical Virgo, Rob takes organization to the extreme. He is also an avid automobile enthusiast and is proud of his diverse collection of model cars. You can easily find him around town spinning his wheels in his “ultimate driving machine.”

Dr. Yu-wan Wang became the Associate Dean of International Admissions at Stony Brook in 2009. Dr. Wang grew up during China’s Cultural Revolution, as an intellectually curious child caught in turbulent times, she recognized the importance of education at a very young age.

Dr. Wang holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, a Master’s of Library and Information Science, and a Doctorate in Education.

One of the most rewarding aspects of her work is helping international students develop intellectually and personally one step at a time, starting with gaining admission to this internationally renowned institution.
