Registration Workshop Assistants (RWA)

Registration Workshop Assistants (RWA's) will attend all scheduled Registration Workshops and are responsible for leading / mentoring first year students in small groups via Zoom to assist them with their course enrollment. This will include helping them navigate SOLAR Holds, class searches, and showing students how to register for SBC's and their SBU 101 first year seminar class. 

RWA RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Attend all scheduled training sessions. 
• Attend all Zoom Enrollment Workshops (~4 workshops/week throughout July & August) and work in small groups with students to finish their Fall 2024 enrollment. 
• Follow Advisor recommendations for courses and work under the direction of Advisors and other Undergraduate College team members. 
• Be attentive to communications from the UGC team regarding registration updates & attend check-in meetings with the UGC team. 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Accurate knowledge of SOLAR and SBU course selection, graduation requirements, and the enrollment process & the ability to teach others how to navigate these
• Team player & strong interpersonal skills 
• Ambition to assist new students in their transition to Stony Brook
• Accepting of constructive feedback and a willingness to learn

Hours Per Week: 12 hours

Pay Rate: $16 hourly rate

Employment Dates: July 11-August 13, 2024 with several training sessions beginning in April and/or May.
