Nick Mangano has worked as a theatre professional on and off Broadway, in regional theatre, in stock, and abroad. He has also taught and/or directed in prominent theatre schools throughout the country.

Nick was founder and Artistic Director of the Garson Theatre Company in Santa Fe, where he directed regional premieres of plays by Moisés Kaufman and José Rivera, and his own adaptation of Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure. He continues a long-time association with composer Steve Reich and video artist Beryl Korot having directed the tour of The Cave (Lincoln Center, throughout Europe, the U.S., and in Japan), as well as the World Premiere (Vienna) and international tour of the digital video opera Three Tales (BAM Next Wave Festival, Spoleto Festival USA, throughout Europe, in China, and Australia). Nick co-authored and directed a devised theatre piece about the Cincinnati race riots of 2001 presented at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in 2007. Most recently he directed The Mountaintop at Capital Repertory, and a concert of Three Tales for the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Disney Hall.  Three Tales will also be presented at Carnegie Hall in 2016.

 Nick has taught and directed at Yale, The College of Santa Fe, the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), where he was Head of the Graduate Directing Program and the Joseph Weinberger Chair of Acting, and at the American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) in San Francisco, where he was Associate Director of their acclaimed production of both parts of Angels in America, and also worked under a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) to help develop the MFA curriculum. He served as an elected member of the Board of Directors for the University Resident Theatre Association (URTA).

He is a member of the Stage Directors & Choreographers Society (SDC), and Actors' Equity Association (AEA).
