Scott B. Abrams, CEO & President, The Omnicon Group
Scott B. Abrams founded The Omnicon Group in 1984—the same year he received his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of New York University, and only four short years after graduating with a B.E. in Electrical Engineering from Stony Brook University. Today, with offices in the United States, Canada and Europe, The Omnicon Group is one of the nation’s leading engineering firms specializing in software, systems, reliability, safety and test engineering. Customers come to Scott and The Omnicon Group when developing mission, revenue or safety-critical software, equipment or systems.
Scott has been dubbed “Mr. Reliability” by the Long Island Business News, and “The Gizmo Doctor” by the New York Times. He has received many personal awards for his engineering and business accomplishments, including being honored as a “Distinguished Alumni” of Stony Brook University and “Reliability Engineer of the Year” by his peers at the IEEE Reliability Society. Likewise, The Omnicon Group has received numerous awards including Hauppauge Industrial Association’s Small Business Achievement Award and three years in a row being named one of Long Island’s fastest growing technology companies by Deloitte & Touche, sponsor of the “Long Island Technology Fast 50.”
As Chief Executive Officer and President of The Omnicon Group, Scott continues to lead a talented and dedicated team of managers and engineers. His team services technology companies throughout the world by analyzing and improving the reliability and safety of their products, developing robust systems and software, and providing comprehensive test engineering solutions. Over the years, long term relationships have been built with customers in diverse industries such as aerospace, communications, transportation, defense, information technology, energy, and medical technology.
Scott is the past President of the Stony Brook University Alumni Association and is a member of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences Dean’s Council, Women in Science and Engineering Advisory Board, and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Industrial Advisory Board. He is an elected officer of the IEEE Reliability Society and an appointed member of the IEEE Committee on Transportation and Aerospace Policy.
Prior to founding The Omnicon Group, Scott worked at Hazeltine Corporation developing identification friend or foe equipment and then United Technologies Norden Systems developing anti-submarine warfare equipment. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New York.
