Fall 2024 In-Person Higher Education Administration Cohort

For students entering the Fall 2004 On-campus Cohort

Are you seeking an in-person graduate student experience with a cohort of peers?  If so, we welcome your application to Stony Brook University's Higher Education Administration (HEA) program.  The HEA program has graduated more than 900 outstanding students since its inception in 2012.  The cohort program is a two-year in-person experience in which you will complete most (or if you prefer, all) of your 36 graduate credits in-person on the Stony Brook campus located on Long Island.  The program begins in late August 2024 and continues for four consecutive fall and spring semesters, with graduation in May 2026.  This immersive cohort experience will provide you with many opportunities to build strong relationships with faculty, classmates, and higher education and student affairs mentors and practitioners.  Each fall and spring semester includes 3 classes (9 credit hours).  As a member of this cohort, you will also participate in two credit-bearing practicum/internships experiences which provide critical networking and experiential learning opportunities that higher education employers value.  Upon admission to the HEA program, Stony Brook's Student Affairs team will work with you to secure a graduate employment position at Stony Brook (paid at an hourly rate for typically 15-29 hours per week) to deepen your knowledge and experience in higher education.  Some graduate employment positions include on-campus housing if you wish to live on-campus.  Most graduate employment opportunities do not cover the cost of tuition.

For priority consideration, please submit your completed application by March 1, 2024.  We encourage you to attend a virtual information session to learn more details about our cohort program.  If you have any questions, please email hea@stonybrook.edu.  We look forward to receiving your application.
