October 1, 2024
To All Students, Faculty, and Staff:
I am pleased to announce that the 2024 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report has
been published and is currently available for viewing. The Annual Security and Fire
Safety Report is a valuable resource for individuals and contains information about
current University policies that provide for the safety and security of the campus
community, as well as visitors to our University. All highlighted policies are in
compliance with federal regulations set forth in the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus
Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act and the Higher Education Opportunity Act.
Also disclosed in the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report are crime statistics and fire statistics for campus residence buildings for the three previous calendar years, along with a description of the fire equipment contained in each residence hall. Further included in the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report are the policies in place that highlight the University’s efforts with the Drug-Free Schools and Campuses Regulations. As an important reminder to the campus community, please remember to sign up for the SB Alert notification system so that you may receive important information during emergency incidents. The University Police Department – Office of Emergency Management will communicate critical information to all registered users during severe weather, class cancellations, fires, power outages, building or campus evacuations, and other types of emergencies. If you have already registered, please verify that all of your contact information is accurate and up to date by visiting your SOLAR page and navigating to the SB Alert Emergency Information tab. The SB Alert system utilizes text, voice, email messaging, the University web page, campus digital signage, voice capable fire alarm systems, the campus outdoor siren, social media channels, as well as external media to provide important safety instructions during an actual emergency.
