Eroll’s research focuses on migration. One strand of work examines the reception of newcomers in receiving societies, with an emphasis on the political attitudes and behavior of natives. A second strand explores how policies and institutions shape the integration of immigrants, especially asylum-seekers and refugees in Europe. To address research questions, Eroll uses methods and designs to credibly identify causal effects using observational data, natural language processing and other tools for text-as-data, as well as machine learning approaches.
