Split Sections
The Split Section snippet allows you to place content laid over a large background image. The content can be on either the left or right side, over a white or black gradient with an inset box. Below are two examples of the four possible combinations.
White on Left | Black on Right
(Other options would be White on Right, Black on Left)
Housing
Stony Brook University is situated at the geographic midpoint of Long Island — about 60 miles east of New York City and 60 miles west of Montauk Point. While the campus is just a commuter train ride to the greatest city in the world, it is also only a short distance to the beaches of Fire Island and the rural charms of Long Island’s North Fork.
Long Island’s villages, hamlets and towns each have their own distinctive character, and each features a wide range of housing choices, culture, and recreation. The University offers several housing options for incoming graduate students who wish to reside on campus as well as support for those who prefer to live off campus.
On-Campus Housing
The Division of Campus Residences offers apartment-style living for graduate students and their families. All apartments are fully furnished, and include premium cable and high-speed Internet. Each complex has fitness, computing and laundry facilities.
All new international and domestic graduate students are guaranteed housing as long as their deposit and housing requests are in by the Fall application deadline.
All prospective students should be advised that that Stony Brook University is a tobacco-free campus, so there is no tobacco use in any of the University apartments.
Off-Campus Housing
Off-campus Housing serves as a good place for students to start looking for an apartment or a house to rent. Not only does the OCH website list available rentals from landlords who have been vetted by the University, it also has roommate listings, options for short-term housing, and information on local apartment complexes. You can also optimize your search based on rent, distance to campus, amenities, and pet and smoking preferences.
