Best Practices in Conducting Trauma Informed Investigations of Sexual and Interpersonal Violence, hosted by Stony Brook University

This two-day training will provide cutting-edge and research informed training for law enforcement, student affairs and Title IX professionals charged with investigating and adjudicating reports of sexual and interpersonal violence. Day 1 will be a deep dive into the impact of trauma on the brain and its effect on investigations of violence and Day 2 will build on that information to provide best practices for conducting trauma-informed and carefully tailored investigations.

Intended Audience: SUNY, CUNY, independent and proprietary college staff with direct obligations to investigate and adjudicate in response to sexual and interpersonal violence on college campuses; State agency personnel working with colleges on investigations and adjudications in response to sexual and interpersonal violence; law enforcement personnel responsible for investigating sexual and interpersonal violence on college campuses; prosecutors responsible for prosecuting sexual and interpersonal violence on college campuses.
This event is generously funded by the Department of Health Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant and is sponsored by the SUNY Title IX Coordinators Association, Council of Chief Student Affairs Officers, Community College Chief Student Affairs Officers, Student Conduct Association, Chiefs of Police Association, Community College Public Safety Administrators Association, and Offices of University Police, University Life, and General Counsel, in partnership with the New York State Police.
