Holiday Science Camp

 

 

Dates for 2024-2025:
	Monday, November 11	All about Chemical Reactions!  Students will spend the day performing various chemical reaction experiments.  Activities will include making super bouncing balls, writing with invisible ink and reversing the corrosion on pennies. Students will also conduct a synthesis of aspirin experiment.
	Wednesday, January 29	All about Cells!  Students will spend the day learning and exploring all about cells. From building a model of a cell, viewing cells under a microscope and extracting DNA from cells, it's bound to be an interactive and exciting day!
	Thursday, February 20	All about the Matter! Students will investigate the science of the stages and properties of matter with fun and exciting experiments and demonstrations using solids, liquids and gases.  Students will explore questions including why we put salt on the roads when it snows and how a cruise ship is able to float!
	Thursday, April 17	All about Motion! Students will spend the day investigating Newton’s Laws and the different aspects of motion.  Their activities and experiments throughout the day will culminate with an Egg Drop Competition!
Time:	9:00am - 3:00pm

Eligibility:	For students in 5th, 6th, or 7th grade in the 2023-2024 academic year.

These academic programs will complement the students' science curriculum at school and challenge them to think, research and experiment. Each program will be laboratory- based, but will involve reading, writing and group work. Each day’s activities are based on a specific theme.  Students will participate in experiments, create crafts and watch demonstrations.  Students participating in these programs should be interested in science, inquisitive, and willing to work hard to learn something new!

Previous camps have included projects and experiments in the fields of biological and physical science including the human body, marine biology, the solar system, motion, sound, electricity, and kitchen chemistry. 

Programs that don't meet enrollment requirements will be cancelled 1 week prior.  Please enroll early!!!  

Payment:  Fee is $65 PER SESSION. PLEASE SEND A SEPARATE CHECK FOR EACH SESSION.  Checks should be made payable to the “Research Foundation of SUNY” and mailed to:
