Linda Padwa is a lecturer in the Science Education Program. She has taught Methods I and Methods II classes and supervises student teachers in the Undergraduate and Master of Arts in Teaching Programs. She is also the faculty advisor for the Stony Brook University Science Olympiad Club.
After her retirement from a position as a high school science teacher, Dr. Padwa joined the Science Education Program at Stony Brook University. She is currently the Associate Director of the program and is an adjunct in the Chemistry Department at the University. During her career as a science teacher Dr. Padwa taught high school chemistry, earth science, AP environmental science, science research, and eighth grade general science. She also served as faculty advisor for a wide range of co-curricular activities and clubs, including National Honor Society, Academic Team, Science Olympiad Team, and Robotics Club. Dr. Padwa has served as a consultant for the New York State Education Department as a question writer and test editor for the Chemistry Regents Examination Development Committee and as a member of the Regents Examination in Chemistry Laboratory Component development committee. She is an active member of the Science Teachers Association of New York State (STANYS). As a leader in the Biology Chemistry Professional Development Network (BCPDN), Dr. Padwa has conducted numerous in-service workshops for chemistry teachers. She represents the BCPDN at Science Summit Meetings that are held each year in conjunction with the New York State Education Department. In addition to her faculty duties at Stony Brook University, Dr. Padwa is one of the regional directors for the Long Island Region of the New York State Master Teacher Program.
