International Friends and Family Program
Global Affairs kicked off the newly launched International Friends and Family Program
(IFFP) with a welcome reception on August 28. IFFP seeks to build meaningful personal
relationships that celebrate cultural diversity, engage students in American life
and culture, and enhance the educational experience by connecting international students
with members of the local community. Participants are given matching surveys to help
establish mutually rewarding relationships.
Around 100 new international students, community members, faculty, and staff attended the event, participating in relationship building activities and taking photos with Wolfie. Guest of honor, Rhona Goldman, was presented with an Appreciation Award in recognition of her outstanding efforts and dedication to the Host Family Program, a community-based organization that shared IFFP’s commitment to international student success, and IFFP members Dr. Dave Henson, Dr. Harold Metcalf and student Nam Nguyen shared personal reflections on how their experience with the program has positively impacted their lives.
