We are pleased to announce that effective August 17, 2022, State employees donating blood during scheduled work hours with supervisory approval can now be granted up to a maximum of four (4) hours off from work with pay. Employees are required to provide written documentation from the donor center and should use Blood Donation (BD) pay code for Solar time reports and timesheets. This code designated for donating blood will not affect your accrual balances. This benefit is available immediately and does not apply to employees donating blood outside of work hours.

Here’s What You Need To Know ...

  1. Employees who donate blood outside their regular work schedules do so on their own time.

  2. Employees are not granted compensatory time off for donating blood on a day off or holiday.

  3. Satisfactory medical documentation establishing that the employee’s absence was for the purpose of the donating blood is required.

  4. You can use your four (4) hours of leave to donate blood up to four (4) times per year.
