Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds II (HEERF II) -
Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA)
Stony Brook University received another $9.8 million in Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF II) created under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA). This program, with some changes, provides supplemental funds to the CARES Act section 18004(a)(1) program. Stony Brook University signed and returning to the Education Department a Certification and Agreement as required under the CARES Act section 18004(a)(1) program. We acknowledge that by drawing down the CRRSAA funds, our institution agrees to be bound by the conditions set forth in the CRRSAA Supplemental Agreement including using 100 percent of these funds to provide emergency aid grants to students.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, funds have been made available through the Higher Education Emergency Relief (HEERF) portion of the Coronavirus response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) to award emergency grants for expenses related to any component of your cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to the pandemic. Eligible expenses include tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), or childcare. Stony Brook University has identified 25,648 students that are eligible to participate in programs under HEERF II.
Stony Brook University under SUNY guidance requires students to have a valid FAFSA on file to be reviewed for eligibility. These funds will be offered as grants and refunded directly to you. The refund you receive may be used to pay any balance owed to the University.
