Required Qualifications
M.D. degree. Eligibility for New York State License. Board Certified/Board Eligible
in General Surgery and must have completed fellowship training in Colon and Rectal
Surgery. Demonstrated clinical and research capabilities, interest and experience
in teaching, and supervision of undergraduates, graduates, medical students, and residents.
Must show evidence of leadership and/or mentoring skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Leadership experience at local or national level. Track record of funded investigation.
Responsibilities & Requirements
Stony Brook Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Colon and Rectal Chief with
vision and commitment to excellence and innovation. The candidate will be responsible
for building successful clinical research programs in colon and rectal surgery within
the Department of Surgery and the Cancer Center. The successful candidate should
have a record of research success in clinical and/or basic research, and will be expected
to develop and expand clinical teaching and research programs in the Department of
Surgery and The Cancer Center. Incumbent will see patients in the outpatient setting
and perform surgical procedures. To qualify for a senior faculty appointment at the
rank of Associate Professor or Professor, the candidate must be able to meet the criteria
established by the School of Medicine for appointment, promotion and tenure at http://medicine.stonybrookmedicine.edu/facultysenate/committees/apt.
Special Notes
Tenure/Non-Tenure Track. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions
of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start
Date: July 1, 2018.
