The PhD in Economics program is a full-time, STEM-designated program that aims to train the next generation of innovative research economists. The program provides rigorous training in microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics, starting with taught courses familiarizing students with cutting edge research in the discipline and continuing with individually tailored advising on conducting original research in economics.
Program Highlights
- Small class sizes and close faculty-student collaboration
- Research faculty with international reputation specializing in Game Theory, Industrial Organization, Labor Economics, Health Economics, Macroeconomics and Finance, Macroeconomic Policy, Economic Demography, and Econometrics
- An annual stipend of $26,000+ and full tuition scholarship (valued at $30,000+)
- Up to $8,000 for professional development (conferences, training, research)
- Diversity Fellowship: For qualified students from historically underrepresented groups, the Fellowship provides an additional stipend (on top of the basic stipend) of $15,000 per year for 5 years as well as a reduced teaching load after advancement to PhD candidacy
