I received my undergraduate education at Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA, where I double-majored in history and chemistry. Undergraduate research allowed me to find my passion for organometallic chemistry, using metals to enable new transformations of organic molecules. I achieved my PhD at University of California, Irvine, developing new reactions using nickel catalysis. In addition to my passion for teaching, I have been active in the lab safety community, including leading the UCI graduate safety team.
Why I chose to join Stony Brook IRACDA : I want to pursue a career as tenure-track faculty at a primarily undergraduate institution. The IRACDA program will help me pursue both my research and teaching goals, giving me the foundation needed to succeed in my future career.
