Danielle Guercio graduated from Saint Joseph’s University Long Island Campus where she majored in Biology and Psychology. She received her PhD at Stony Brook University in Molecular and Cellular Biology in 2024. Her dissertation research focused on understanding the molecular mechanism of denitrification in the pathogenetic bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Through this work, she identified a novel regulator of this metabolic process.

Why I chose to join Stony Brook IRACDA : Stony Brook IRACDA is a unique experience where I am able to continue to contribute to my field of research, gain formal pedagogy training and apply what I have learned in my training to teaching placements with partner institutions. I also joined to be able to connect with IRACDA scholars both within and outside of my university at future conferences.
