BS Psychology
Minor in Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies
On Stony Brook:
I’m originally from Bronx, NY. I first heard about SBU through a good friend of mine.
She told me about their amazing academics. I specifically was interested in the psychology
program.
On her program of study:
My major is psychology and my minor is women's gender and sexuality studies. I chose
psychology because I want to work with people I'm interested in understanding human behavior and mental
processes.
On her favorite class:
One of my favorite classes was WST395 because I learned so much about immigration
that I never really thought about prior to taking this class.
On her interests and accomplishments:
My subject of interest in psychology is children, because I feel our children are
the leaders of our future and if we help and support them from young they will thrive.
My accomplishment is making the dean’s list throughout my whole time at Stony Brook
University.
On her greatest achievement:
One of my greatest accomplishments was finishing my last semester after recently having
a baby. It wasn’t easy at all but I never gave up or thought twice about finishing
my degree.
Plans for post-graduation:
My post-graduation plan is to apply for a dual program in Social Work and Education.
My career goal is to be elementary school guidance counselor.
Advice for future Seawolves:
My advice would be to never wait until the last minute to do any assignment and don’t
hesitate to ask and reach out to professors.
On her favorite SBU memory:
One of my favorite SBU memories is Homecoming 2018. I enjoyed watching the football
game and being with all of my friends.
On graduating during COVID-19:
I’m excited to be graduating but I’m also sad that I won’t be able to walk across
the stage and see the smiles on my families faces from being so proud of me.
Parting thoughts:
I would like to thank all of my professors for being so amazing. Special thanks to
Nancy Heimstra and Liz Montegary for being great teachers and helping me and motivating
when I needed it the most. Also to Tracey Lorio, my transfer advisor, who guided me through my semesters and provided
the best guidance and support.
