Galia is a Mexican PhD candidate at the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at
Stony Brook University, in which she is working on Latin/x American LGBT/Q migrants’
political organizing, transnational networks, and the development of alternative forms
of citizenship through performative interventions. In 2019 she received a master’s
degree in Sociology from the New School for Social Research. During her time living
in the US, she has collaborated with multiple community groups and grassroots organizations
that work to advance social, economic, and cultural inclusion for Latin American and
indigenous immigrant rights living in NYC, such as Hands in The Bronx and the Transnational
Villages Network.
